SuperConcepts’ chief executive Lara Bourguignon is continuing with her leadership renewal as the company has announced two appointments. SuperConcepts’ national sales manager, Annette Sheppard has been promoted to the role of general manager of growth. She has over 13 years’ experience in the SMSF industry and was previously AMP’s SMSF solutions manager for Queensland. Sheppard will be responsible for key account relationship management, sales and marketing functions. Yasmin Omar-Meer has been appointed as general manager of strategy, product and price. She was previously the company’s executive manager of marketing. Prior to joining SuperConcepts, Omar-Meer was an equity partner at More Super for over 10 years before it was acquired by SuperConcepts in 2018.
Australian Finance Group (AFG) has announced the restructure of its executive team in response to the Royal Commission. Mark Hewitt has taken on the role of general manager industry and partnership development. He was AFG’s general manager residential and broker for 13 years and will be responsible for lender relationships across all business lines. Chris Slater has assumed the position of head of sales and distribution across both the residential broking and AFG’s home loans businesses, moving from his previous position as home loans general manager. The company plans to appoint a general manager for the AFG Securities business in the near future.
It’s been another grey week for Blue Sky Alternative Investments as the administrators announced in a note to investors that Joel Cann’s role as chief executive is no longer required, after only two months in the position. In addition, the company announced the resignation of Robert Kaye as a director. The announcements come after Blue Sky entered receivership on May 20.
Former Westpac executive George Frazis has been appointed as chief executive of Bank of Queensland. He has over 17 years’ experience in banking, having held senior positions at NAB, Commonwealth Bank before being appointed as chief executive of Westpac New Zealand and later the chief executive of St George Banking Group. Frazis was most recently chief executive of the consumer bank at Westpac.
MFS Investment Management has appointed Daniel Bristow as director of consultant relations in Australia. He joins from Colonial First State Global Asset Management where he held a number of senior roles over a 19-year period, including senior institutional relationship manager. Bristow will be responsible for identifying, establishing and maintaining relationships within the consultant and research communities in Australia and will report to senior managing director Marian Poirier.
