Buy now pay later platform Splitit has announced that its cofounder Gil Don is stepping down as chief executive officer and will take on the role of general manager, EMEA. Don founded the company in 2009 with chief risk officer Alon Feit and has been chief executive since 2015. Managing director of North America, Brad Paterson will take over as chief executive. He joined Splitit in June, moving from software platform Womply where he was chief operating officer. Prior to that Paterson was vice president of marketing for Quickbooks Online at Intuit and was head of new ventures – Asia Pacific at PayPal. He was also director, consumer and emerging products (Australia & NZ) at Visa.
Bernard Reilly has been appointed chief executive of Sunsuper. Reilly was formerly chief operating officer at NAB Asset Management and a director at DBR Advisory. Prior to that, he had a 24-year career at State Street Global Advisors where he was head of Asia-Pacific and global head of strategy. Reilly will take over from Scott Hartley who announced his intention to resign in May.
AMP Capital has announced the appointment of Kit Georgeos as the fund manager of the AMP Capital Wholesale Office Fund. She joins from GPT where she was the deputy fund manager for the GPT Wholesale Office Fund for the last three and a half years and prior to that she was the head of product development (funds management) at GPT. Georgeos was also associate director, real estate at Macquarie Bank.
Aberdeen Standard Investments is beefing up its environmental, social and governance (ESG) capabilities in Australia with the appointment of Danielle Welsh-Rose as ESG investment director. She joins from Victorian Funds Management Corporation where she was head of ESG. Prior to that she was managing director at Sustainability Advisers and manager sustainability investments at VicSuper. She will report to Edinburgh-based global head of stewardship and ESG investment, Euan Stirling and Brett Jollie, managing director of Australia.
Bell Direct has appointed Jessica Amir as market analyst. She joins from Finance News Network where she was head of news and content and was previously a journalist at ABC, Money Management, Prime 7 and WIN News. Prior to this, Amir was a financial planner at Commonwealth Bank, AMP and Suncorp.
Advisory firm Findex has announced 57 new partners, including external appointments and internal promotions. The headline appointments include John Baillie who has been appointed as a senior partner with the corporate and international tax business, which operates as Crowe Australasia. He was formerly a partner (corporate and international tax) with Deloitte. Mark Azzopardi has been appointed as managing partner of the tax advisory. He joins from Grant Thornton where he was managing partner. Naida Beltrame has been appointed as partner for national research and development and tax leader. She was formerly principal of Beltrame Consulting. Tony Newham has joined as partner in the mergers and acquisitions team and was previously a program manager at Tabcorp. Tony Krohn has been appointed as a partner in corporate finance and was previously a consultant at Richmark.
Credit Corp Group has appointed two new non-executive directors to its board. Trudy Vonhoff is also on the board of Ruralco Holdings and Cuscal. She was previously a non-executive director of AMP Bank, Cabcharge Australia and Tennis NSW. In her executive career, Vonhoff was chief operations officer and general manager, commercial and agribusiness banking at Westpac and chief financial officer at AMP Bank. John Nesbitt has been appointed as a non-executive director. He is the chair of AMP Capital and is on the board of ME Bank, General Reinsurance Life Australia and Evolve Housing. Nesbitt was previously chief executive of Suncorp banking and wealth and group financial officer at both Suncorp and Perpetual.
