Industry association Insurtech Australia has appointed Rita Yates as chief executive. She was previously head of insurtech and corporate partnerships at fintech innovation hub Stone & Chalk. Yates has over 20 years’ experience in insurance and fintech and start-up ecosystems and has served on the company’s advisory committee since 2017. She assumes the role from co-founder Simon O’Dell who has taken on the position of chair.
PSC Insurance Group has announced the appointment of Tony Robinson as managing director. He takes over from Paul Dwyer who has stepped down but will continue as a non-executive director, member of the audit and risk committee and deputy chair. Robinson is currently a non-executive director of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and has held leadership positions at OAMPS, IOOF, and Centrepoint Alliance.
Specialised faith sector payment company Pushpay has appointed Bruce Gordon as chief executive. He assumes the role from Chris Heaslip who has stood down after eight years with the company and will remain a director. Gordon has extensive experience in electronic banking services serving as chair of Paymark, chief manager electronic banking and payments at Bank of New Zealand and held senior roles at Eco-Products Group, Farmers Credit, NAB, ASB Bank and The Warehouse Group.
Consolidated Operations Group’s chief financial officer (CFO), Nathan Thomas has resigned after holding the position for two years. John Macrae has been appointed as the interim CFO while a replacement is found. Macrae joins from David Jones where he held the positions of CFO, executive director and company secretary over a 17 year period.
SuperConcepts chief executive Lara Bourguignon has announced changes to the leadership team. Mark Bailey has been promoted to chief financial officer from his role as finance manager following Adrian Urquhart’s departure. Sherry Midgley has been promoted to general manager from her position as people and culture executive manager and Garth Montgomery has been appointed as executive manager communications and content. James Fitzpatrick has stepped down from his position as chief operating officer opening two newly created positions of general manager of product, risk and strategy and general manager of growth. These two positions are in the process of recruitment.
Commonwealth Bank has announced that David Higgins will retire as a non-executive director at the end of this year. He has been a director since 2014 and during this time was the chair of the remuneration committee and a member of the risk committee.
SuperFriend has announced the appointment of three new members to its board. Sarah Guthleben has joined as a partner fund representative. She has over 19 years’ experience in human resources and financial services and is currently executive officer people, capability and enablement at Equip Super. Niki Ellis has been appointed to the board as an independent director. She has over 20 years’ experience in the health sector and has served on a variety of boards bringing her expertise in academia, research management, innovation in health and disability services delivery and insurance medicine. Additionally, Mitch Wallis has joined the board as an independent director. He founded an international not-for-profit mental health campaign called ‘Heart on My Sleeve Movement’ to eradicate the stigma around mental health.
Global institutional investment network Liquidnet has appointed two specialists to its team. David Barrett-Lennard joins the execution and quantitative services team in a senior position. His most recent role was in equity sales and trading at ITG and prior to that was at CMC Markets in a similar role. The company has appointed Andrew Murphy as relationship manager. He has held roles at Deutsche Bank and ANZ and will work closely with the existing client relationship team.
