Genworth has announced the resignation of chief executive Georgette Nicholas. She will continue in the role until a replacement has been found and will remain an employee of the company to ensure a smooth handover. Nicholas has held the position since 2016 and prior to that served as chief financial officer. She will return to the United States following her handover.
AMP Limited has promoted John Patrick Moorhead to chief financial officer. He will assume the role in June 2019 from Gordon Lefevre, who has announced his retirement from AMP after over five years as group CFO. Moorhead is currently CFO and chief operating officer of AMP Capital and will now be responsible for capital management, treasury, mergers & acquisitions and investor relations, reporting to AMP chief executive Francesco De Ferrari. Prior to AMP, Moorhead was chief operating officer of Eight Road Ventures Europe and group chief financial officer, group corporate finance director and investment director of Virgin Group.
Heartland Group Holdings has announced the appointment of former Westpac New Zealand executive, Cherise Barrie as chief financial officer. She has been a chartered accountant for over 27 years and has held executive roles at Health Alliance NZ, Sovereign Limited and ANZ Bank. Barrie succeeds acting chief financial officer Myles Perry.
The Australian Financial Complaints Authority has appointed veteran journalist Kathy Bowlen to the newly created role of executive general manager – communications and stakeholder relations. She has over 20 years’ experience in journalism at the ABC and joins from her position of general media, media and communications at Melbourne’s St Vincent’s Hospital and prior to that role Bowlen was the national media manager at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service.
SG Hiscock & Co has appointed Anthony Cochran as head of distribution, reporting to managing director Stephen Hiscock. Based in Melbourne, Cochran will be responsible for the distribution of SGH funds across Australia and managing relationships with key business partners. He joins from Macquarie Bank where he held positions as the national distribution manager and business development manager.
Vertium Asset Management has appointed Tomas Vasquez as portfolio manager/equity analyst. He has over 15 years’ experience in equity research and joins from Investors Mutual where he was an equities analyst for over four years. Vasquez will report to chief investment officer Jason Teh.
Listed investment company AFIC has appointed Rebecca Dee-Bradbury as a non-executive director. She is a non-executive director of BlueScope Steel and Grain Corp and a director of Energy Australia Holdings. Dee-Bradbury is an inaugural member of the Business Advisory Board at Monash Business School and was previously chief executive of developed markets (Asia Pacific and ANZ) at Mondelez and chief executive of Barbeques Galore group.
Yellow Brick Road has announced the resignation of Owen Williams as a director. He has been a director since the company’s listing eight years ago and throughout his time, held the position of chair of the audit and risk committee. Williams will provide the company with consulting services on specific issues.
